Sherwood Demonstration Garden
Welcome to the
Sherwood Demonstration Garden!
As Master Gardeners, we are committed to educating the general public on sustainable horticulture and pest management practices based on traditional, current, and evolving research. It is our goal that the Sherwood Demonstration Garden will provide the public with a hands-on, interactive experience about research-based, sustainable gardening practices specific to the west slope of El Dorado County, appropriate for all ages and cultures, and reflective of a variety of environments and gardening experiences.
There are 16 individual demonstrations gardens ranging from the Shade Garden to the Rock Garden and everything in between!

What's happening now!
Buzzzzy, buzzzzy, buzzzy. Our volunteers come in all shapes and sizes. You can hear the pollinators working away all over the Sherwood Demonstration Garden. Butterflies, dragonflies, honey bees, Bumblebees, hover flies, hummingbirds, and more! All gardens are springing into action. Ya just gotta see it!
Take A Tour!
The Sherwood Demonstration Garden is open to the public Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to noon.
The SDG is comprised of 16 individual themed gardens. All plantings are designed around low-water, low maintenance plants that do well in El Dorado County. Several gardens address challenges such as gardening in shade and under oak trees, plants for wet soil, or sunny rocky areas. There is also a Japanese Garden, a Rose Garden, and a Cottage Garden. Something for everyone!
*** FREE *** guided tours by our docents are available to groups. A group can be a club or organization, or a group of friends or family. Our website has contact information, directions, and web pages for each of the 16 gardens, including plant lists that can be downloaded for you to use as a guide for your own garden.
